Faith- Do you have it ?

A businessman boarded his flight at the last moment. He was traveling for some official work.

Arriving at his seat, he greeted the co-passengers around him with a smile. A middle-aged woman was sitting at the window, and a little girl was sitting on the aisle seat. After stowing his bag above, he took his place between them.

After the flight took off, he began a conversation with the little girl. She appeared to be about the same age as his daughter and was busy with her coloring book. He asked her a few usual questions, such as her age (eight), her hobbies (cartoons and drawing), as well as her favorite animal (horses are pretty, but she just loved cats).

He found it strange that such a young girl was be traveling alone, but he kept his thoughts to himself and he was trying again and again to make sure that the girl did not face any kind of trouble.

About an hour into the flight, the plane suddenly began experiencing extreme turbulence. The pilot came over the PA (public address) system and told everyone to fasten their seat belts and remain calm, as they had encountered rough weather.

For the next half an hour, the plane shook several times very sharply and also went up and down several times. Some passengers were crying after experiencing this, while some passengers were praying in their hearts. There was a ruckus all around.

The man was also sweating and clenching his seat as tightly as he could, and exclaimed ‘Oh my God!’ with each increasingly violent shake of the plane.

Meanwhile, the little girl was sitting quietly beside him in her seat. Her coloring book and crayons were put away neatly in the seat pocket in front of her, and her hands were calmly resting on her legs. Incredibly, she didn’t seem worried at all.

After experiencing this for some time, the plane was now completely calm.

The pilot came on a few minutes later to apologize for the bumpy ride and announced that they would be landing soon.

As the plane began its descent, the man said to the little girl, “You are just a little girl, but I have never met a braver person in all my life! When all the passengers were upset, you were sitting very calmly. I still don’t understand how were you so calm even though you’re so young? While all of us adults were so scared during all the movement in the plane, you weren’t scared at all?”

The girl, looking into his eyes, replied with a smile on her face, “No, because my father is the pilot. He is in control of this plane and he is taking me home!”

The man was astonished at that girl’s response, the confidence in her words, and the confidence she had in her eyes for her father!!

The voice from within made him question, “Do I have this much faith in myself and in my God who has given birth to me?”

An old Biblical statement says, “Faith can move mountains.”

In a spiritual system, meditation is “connecting with the Self,” and “going within one-self,” and as a result, with time and practice, we develop a “real” faith in ourselves, in our inner voice. Such a faith can indeed move mountains!

“Have faith in yourself.
